Acetazolamide Tablets

This medication is a tablet you swallow to reduce pressure in the eye for people with certain types of glaucoma.  It also has other uses unrelated to the eye. 

Side Effects/Adverse Reactions

  • Allergic reaction (especially if you have a history of allergy to sulfonamide drugs)

  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting

  • Confusion

  • Drowsiness

  • Sensitivity to the sun

  • Increased urination

  • Loss of appetite

  • Metallic taste 

Interactions

This medication could interact with many other drugs.  Ask the pharmacist if it interacts with the ones you currently take. 

Storage

  • Store at room temperature 

  • Keep out of reach and sight of children

  • Do not use it after the expiry date (the expiry date refers to the last day of that month)
